SPONSOR — DON'T JUST RECRUIT
SPONSOR — DON'T JUST RECRUIT
Getting someone in is only the beginning.
Now your job is to help them get started.
There is an important difference between recruiting someone and sponsoring someone.
A recruiter may get someone enrolled and immediately start looking for the next person.
A sponsor understands that when someone joins, a new responsibility begins.
A recruiter gets someone into the business.
A sponsor gets into the business with them.
THEY DON'T NEED EVERYTHING AT ONCE
A brand-new person can easily become overwhelmed.
They don't need to learn everything about the company.
They don't need to memorize every product.
They don't need to understand every detail of the compensation plan.
They need to know what to do next.
GET THEM INTO ACTION
Don't leave a new person alone wondering how to begin.
Help them take the same simple steps you learned:
Build their Power 15.
Peak interest.
Show the plan.
Ask, "What did you like best?"
Use the 3-way call.
They don't need a new system.
Teach them the system you just used.
WORK WITH THEM — NOT FOR THEM
Sponsoring does not mean building someone's business for them.
You work beside them.
You make 3-way calls with them. You help them learn the tools. You coach them through the process.
But they must take the action.
Help them become capable — not dependent.
REMEMBER HOW YOU FELT ON DAY ONE
Your new person may be excited.
They may also be nervous, uncertain or afraid of doing something wrong.
Keep things simple.
Encourage action. Celebrate progress. Answer what needs to be answered. Then point them toward the next step.
DON'T CREATE A FOLLOWER
If your new person has to call you before they can do anything, you haven't created duplication.
Teach them how to use the system.
Then teach them how to teach the system to someone else.
The goal is independence through duplication.
YOUR FIRST LEADERS MAY BE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU
Never prejudge the person you just sponsored.
You don't know who they may become.
The quiet person may become an extraordinary leader.
The person with no experience may become one of the best teachers in your organization.
Treat people according to their potential, not just where they are today.
THE REAL GOAL
The goal isn't simply to sponsor more people.
The goal is to help people grow.
And eventually, some of those people will become leaders who can help others grow.
That's when duplication begins to become leadership.
YOUR ASSIGNMENT
When you sponsor your next person, don't simply congratulate them and disappear.
Help them get started.
Take them through START HERE.
Help them build their Power 15.
And begin working the system together.
DON'T JUST RECRUIT PEOPLE.
SPONSOR THEM.
Get them started.
Work beside them.
Teach them the system.
Help them become capable of teaching someone else.
This training system carries forward the leadership and duplication principles taught by Silas King III through Duplication Station. His teaching made an important distinction: don't merely recruit people — learn to sponsor them.
